Who picks the starting formation?
When was the last time we started with 2 strikers up front and who was the manager at the time?
Who do you think wanted to sign the below players? Was it Sullivan or the manager?

Formations and styles try to be too clever and end up negative, it’s about overloading midfield, playing in phases, low press, high press, transition and any other new phrases they roll out. I’d have loved to see us play 2 up top against Palace, get stuck into them and go all out on a team that hadn’t won away all season.

Not many managers are interested in playing two up front these days, its also very rare to see a player getting chalk on his boots out wide
These days its all about inverted wingers and false nines, condensing the play and high press blah blah.
Game management and percentages i guess.
I still find it amazing how many teams persist in trying to play out from the back even when its fraught with danger almost as if hitting the odd long ball has been outlawed.

I wouldn't start with two up.
I'd play 433 with the whole team pushed further up.
